Musings of Lost Souls

These are the stories of those folks that have never had their fifteen minutes. They go to the Serendipity whenever they want something. Just around the corner...down the block...through the alley, Serendipity is always nearby. Just ask for Phae he's the owner/bartender. As you opened the door and entered through the portal...

The Fare - part Last (Shaera)

Phillip loved his job. He couldn’t think of anything else he’d rather do then drive around the city. What better goal in life was there then to spend 8 hours a day trying to find beautiful women to give a ride, getting paid for it was strictly bonus.

Looking at Shaera in the rearview he marveled at her…her…where the hell was she?

Hitting the brakes he twisted around and over the seat checking the floorboard for some sign of The Fare. He did find his money but the woman was gone. As was her list. Phillip tried to recall what the last place on the list was but try as he might he could not recall.

Phillip knew that when it came time he would once again play his part. He would be ready. The priests of Shaera number far fewer now then in times past as such Phillip’s turn would come again, soon. Until then he would practice the fawning, the fearful looks, and the questioning. That was the reason he transported exclusively female fares. Phillip knew that if he practiced enough he would one day be able to ride next to her and no longer be bound as only a chauffeur.

Checking himself out in the rearview mirror Phillip noticed a few new gray hairs and possibly a couple new wrinkles but all in all he was content.

As the mantra tumbled unconsciously from between his smoky colored lips Phillip flipped the occupied/unoccupied switch, gave the old buick some gas and rumbled on in search of yet another to give a ride.
