The Fare, part ot (Shaera)
Phillip couldn’t seem to keep his eyes off the multiple charms that dangled from the golden choker around Sharea’s pale throat. It was almost as if each time he looked there were more and more dangling just above her….
“Phillip love.”
“Sorry”
“I work at it, you know.”
“Work at what.”
“Why, adding charms to my necklace.”
“They look good”
“Are you familiar with the next location?”
“Dyson Corporation building ain’t it?”
“Very astute lover. Just pull into the taxi lane and wait, I won’t be a moment.”
Phillip sat watching the many different things as they traveled past his cab. People, vehicles, birds, even the clouds were all moving further then he was. All of them had a destination oblivious to any of the others. His was a deeper calling he had known since adolescence that he was bound to her and she to him. She had but to call and he would answer with every fibre of his being. He knew when the time came he would be chosen to be with her for an eternity.
“Federal Building” the ‘suit’ said hopping into the back seat and slamming the door behind him.
“This one’s reserved.” Phillip replied glaring at the ‘suit’ in the back seat of his cab.
“Screw that. Let’s get going.”
“Get out buddy. The meter’s already running.”
“Phillip don’t be rude.” Sang Shaera’s voice as she glided across the back seat making sure to elicit plenty of contact between her and the businessman.
“You know where to go love.” She directed at Phillip immediately turning her attention the other passenger in the car.
“Hello.” she smiled.
“Sha…” the guy replied stunned.
“Ssshhh childe there is no need to speak. You asked and I am here”
“Please…”
Shaera leaned forward slightly and made contact on the mans forehead with her smoky colored lips. She delicately began to mouth words not heard on this plane by any other living being.
Phillip watched, as the man appeared to succumb to a spiritual climax and then proceed to shrivel and rock back into the seat next to Shaera. His eyes slightly sunken his skin ashen in color.
“Phillip be a dear and mark the last name off the list.” Shaera requested.
As her watched Shaera, she almost seemed to be preening herself, like a cat after a meal. Slowly methodical she worked over her face and hair, hands and nails until everything was in just the right place. He also witnessed a charm materialize on her necklace bigger and brighter then the others that he could see.
Focusing his attention back on the streets he continued piloting the old buick.
