Musings of Lost Souls

These are the stories of those folks that have never had their fifteen minutes. They go to the Serendipity whenever they want something. Just around the corner...down the block...through the alley, Serendipity is always nearby. Just ask for Phae he's the owner/bartender. As you opened the door and entered through the portal...

Spider to the Fly

Zhu-Rong stowed the case containing the PU38 in the corner of the rooftop and armed the self destruct system. Hopefully no kids would mess with the case till his return. He then pulled a small strand of thread from his belt, and tied it to a pipe on the rooftop. He checked the knot and then leapt over the edge. The thread he knew would hold his weight, it was one of Ergos’s finer inventions. Although it appeared as only a small thread it was in fact a polymer silk similar to a spiders silk. He had seen tests performed on this type of thread and had seen it first hand raise a large tank. He fell the height of the building to the street and set down as graceful as a cat. He took the pen laser out and severed the tread and tied it to the guttering.

May come in handy later if I have to get back up there real quick” he thought.

As he walked to the end of the alley his wrist chronometer began to chirp.

Easy now big guy, lets not make a scene here. Ergos 1 to base, I have a spike in the occilometer, it calmed down pretty quick though.

“Rodger Ergos 1, he still has the device then, ensure retrieval, do not initiate a full sequence, continue the mission, radio silence until competition, base out”

Radio Silence? Who did they not want to hear me? Better get this done and be on my way ASAP” He thought to himself.

He glanced around and once he was sure that he was not being watched, slipped across the street and placed two small cameras on the corner of the building. One looking down the street, and one facing the portal to Serendipity. He checked the visual on his receiver and moved around the back and sat down. He could see the rear entrance to the Serendipity but decided that he would wait for his target to be out in the open. Any building that could foil a bio-scan had to have some interesting people inside and besides, he had to make it look like an accident.
