The Sentencing (Alex)
Taking a seat on the cold, hard floor in 'the room' Alex glanced about. On one of the walls was a mural depicting unusual creatures painted in red and brown colors. It reminded her of some of the Indian art she had seen in caves. The wall to her left showed a forest. It's vibrant colors were so inviting that you wanted to touch it and become one with the picture. On the opposite wall there was a very foreboding mountain portrayed. It's dark colors and shadowing showing a very sinister place. Alex wondered if this was the Mountain of Pastanpresent.
It didn't take long for Salmurk to return to get her. She knew before even a word was spoken what the verdict would be. She walked over to where the stool had once been. Holding her head up high, she waited for the centaur to speak.
Tavalox didn't waste any time delivering the news. "The Council has heard you speak. Weighing all that you have said along with all that we know to be true, The Council finds you guilty of violating the treaty. We also find you guilty for the deplorable act of attempting to murder one of the forest's inhabitants. You will spend the remainder of the night under the watchful eye of Enew the Griffin. In the morning Glottack will escort you to the caves of the Mountain of Pastanpresent. Once there, the dark creatures will see to it that you are executed in a somewhat timely manner."
He had spoken so pleasantly that she found it hard to believe he just sentenced her to death. What bizarre creatures these centaurs are. One minute I'm their guest and the next their prisoner.
